“MoveOn” for Women (and the men who care about us)

I have to admit that I am still wearing my Hillary goggles -shopping at the grocery store, walking through my neighborhood, watching television - everything and everyone gets placed into its’ proper Hillary box. Did Rick and Sylvia down the street support Hillary? Nope. Then they don’t get a wave as I pass them on the sidewalk. That show Baby Borrowers looked entertaining - but I still can’t watch anything offered by NBC or any of their affiliates: Bravo, USA, etc…I fear that all GE products are next in line on my chopping block. I have been searching through all the blogs and new organizations to help me with my 5 stages of grief. First came Denial and Isolation - didn’t leave my house, watch any news, or even watch Hillary’s concession speech until days after the fact. Then came Anger - I must admit I liked this stage the best. The folks at justsaynodeal.com really helped me make it through - I loved having my claws out! I guess I just entered the Bargaining stage - not sure how long I will be here before turning to Depression and then finally Acceptance. While “bargaining,” I am trying to do everything I can to make sure this doesn’t happen again. At first I was just going to blog about it, but my husband forwarded me an email today from the folks at womencountpac.com (he’s trying to get me through these stages as quickly as possible).

What does the Fourth of July mean to you? Freedom, equality, rebellion? Just like our founding fathers and mothers, we refuse to allow our issues to be taken lightly and we will not be ignored. Like you, Women Count is fired up and ready to act, but first we need to hear from you.

They actually managed to convince me (for now) that I have a productive role to play. Thinking about it, I’m not sure if this is actually the Bargaining stage - maybe I skipped Depression and moved on to Acceptance already. Whatever stage I am in, Women Count’s attempt to be the “MoveOn” for women has inspired me. I just voted on what their first campaign should be and I encourage folks to do the same.

It’s up to you. Is fighting sexism and gender bias at the top of your list? Do we need to change the discriminatory nominating process? Should we turn our attention to electing more women to office?

My vote was for a campaign targeted at gender bias - it was better than eating another pint of Ben & Jerry’s in front of a silent TV. On the other hand, I still might sneak out tonight and rip Rick and Sylvia’s Obama sign down.

  1. I believe WomanCount pac is supporting Obama.

I wont be supporting them. I am willing to be corrected. I have emailed them several times trying to get an answer, and no one gets back to me. I dont trust them now. They made the great ads during the end of Hillarys campaign, but now they are endorsing o and trying to get us to unify. PLEASE if I am wrong, I want you to correct me.

  2. I didn’t think it was women count that endorsed Obama but the Woman’s media center. I may be wrong but that is who I thought endorsed O

  3. Their website does not show anything about supporting Obama, but the date of the last press release is June 3rd. There seems to have been a lot of activity before that date, but not afterwards. That might indicate they have moved to Obama, so I wouldn’t make any donations there. If you do, they could end up in Obama’s treasure box.

  4. Oh yeah…allymac…I too have been avoiding the Rick and Sylvia in my neighborhood., and the young couples at my grandsons baseball games…I just don’t want to even make eye contact with them, because I know what will happen…that soap box appears at my feet, and it’s just a step up, and I’m off and running, my mouth that is! I don’t even know where that soap box comes from, it just magically appears at my feet( it’s great lol)…

I am determined not to get depressed , (until Nov), and WILL NOT ACCEPT this insanity in our country right now…1st of all we do not have to accept, nor should we accept BO as an official candidate until August 28th…the BO Koolaide could lose it’s effect, with all the shakin from the flip floppin around and the SD’s could ‘wake up’ just in the knick of time and VOTE HILLARY IN…is there a Dreaming stage? Oh Yeah, it could happen!

I’m not sure about Women Count either…I’m just sure that I will NEVER VOTE for OBAMA
