Glorious Milestone Achieved in Human History : 36 Years Later Chisholm’s Dream Comes True

San Francisco Bay Area (CA) - The trail to the White White House for women is paved in golden triumph and blue stars, gold representing the enabling contributions of US womens suffrage movement, and blue the role of the Democratic Party as the wellspring of hope and progress.

Today we stand together watching a glorious new golden sunrise in the new millennium. We witness what was only in the imagination a short time ago: Never before has the American public demonstrated its commitment to women’s rights being equal to human rights more fully than by casting 18 million popular votes for a woman candidate  - proving without question that the citizen voters of our country have equal faith in a woman to guide our country as our nation’s leader, the President of the United States.

All of America will be watching the televised historic occasion of the 88th Anniversary of women’s right to vote, commemorated in the speech of Senator Hillary Clinton on August 26th, 2008. The whole world will be listening as Senator Hillary Clinton’s name is read as the first viable women presidential candidate ever to be on the roll call for all delegates to vote on at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. The fact of the first real, viable woman Presidential candidate on the roll call is a history altering event that will forever change our world.

When we hear Senator Clinton’s name read, it will have been 36 years since Shirley Chisholm’s trailblazing efforts leading to her run for US President nomination in 1972,  her journey often referred to as the “Chisholm Trail”. When women first were granted the right to vote, through the 19th amendment, The phrase, “the perfect 36″ referred to the 36th ratification by state legislature of the 19th amendment, by the state of Tennessee - the final step along the path to women’s suffrage.

Now, 36 years after Shirley Chisholm declared her goal of becoming the “real, viable candidate”, as  a woman for President of the united states, Hillary Clinton has finally achieved that dream, not only in earning the title of fist “real, viable candidate”, but has gone much further. Senator Clinton she is not only viable - she is arguably one of the presumptive nominees. She has earned the right to be considered one of two possible nominees, she has demonstrated that a woman not only can, but if nominated, will win the white house for the Democratic Party.

The piece by LIZ SIDOTI (AP) of Aug. 14, 2008 states that “Democrats will officially nominate Obama at the convention but the state delegations will do a traditional roll call for his vanquished opponent as well.” And Senator Obama is quoted by Sidoti as saying: “”I am convinced that honoring Senator Clinton’s historic campaign in this way will help us celebrate this defining moment in our history and bring the party together in a strong united fashion,” Obama, an Illinois senator, said in a joint statement.”.  Furthermore, Sidoti quotes Senator Clinton as stating : “Added Clinton, a New York senator: “With every voice heard and the party strongly united, we will elect Senator Obama president of the United States and put our nation on the path to peace and prosperity once again.”"

Senator Obama and the Democratic Party have made a just and positive move towards real, viable party unity in walking together with Senator Clinton and her more than 18 million supporters, along the “Chisholm Trail” towards the conclusion of the journey that Shirley Chisholm could only dream of.

  1. asking all bloggers to start up chatter about hillary’s vp selection. she should name it before convention. otherwise it will be 2 against 1

  2. VP selection? For Nobama? Not interested? Maybe Nobama as VP to learn the job and get experience, But never ever will I even think Hillary would want to be his VP!Far to Smart, Far to Experienced! ( A REAL LEADER) She is going for it all ( President of The United States of America) and if NOBAMA is lucky, maybe, Maybe, she will let him be her VP! Big Maybe ! otherwise Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie, Drove my Chevy to the levy but the Levy was DRY! Sorry, had to get that off my chest…..I Will Never Do My Country or Senator Hillary Clinton the Injustice of Voting for NOBAMA / EVER! I will not Stand for A corrupt DNC/ I will not Stand for a Corrupt and Media! Presidents are not Selected, They are Elected!

  3. Hillary on the other hand already Said early in the pRimary that she would make Evan Byhe her VP as they sit next to each other in the Senate and work together frequently on Foreign Affair Commitee. One can only ASUME that that is why all the Chatter about Nobama selcting him has been made lately….He has hired every body else thats ever worked with the Clintons, so Naturally why would Nobama not select him. Personally I always liked Ed Rendel as Hillarys VEEP!
